Edwige Dadie, Surviving Spouse, Cote d'Ivoire
Edwige Dadie’s husband was still an active pastor when he passed away in 2004, leaving behind Edwige and their 5-year-old daughter.
She says that it took her five years of red tape to receive her first very small social security payment from her country’s social services program.
Even though Dadie receives free medical care at the public hospital, she cannot afford the medicine she needs to manage her chronic health conditions.
“The medicine is too expensive,” she says.
The Central Conference Pension Initiative was started to provide a retirement with dignity to retired pastors
and their surviving spouses, such as Edwige Dadie. To find out more about the initiative, explore www.ccpi-umc.org or write to
ccpi@gbophb.org. Donations can be made online or by calling 847-866-4230.
