Rev. Bitrus Nwowin, Retiree, Nigeria
With seven mouths to feed and a minimal pension from his conference, the Reverend Bitrus Nwowin has been forced to grow his food at home instead of enjoying a well-deserved break after his 40-year career in the Church.
During his time in the ministry, Rev. Nwowin was appointed to 20 different congregations—often serving multiple churches simultaneously. He now must rely on family and friends, who recently helped him pay for a necessary operation.
The Central Conference Pension Initiative was started to provide a retirement with dignity to retired pastors, such as Rev. Nwowin, and their surviving spouses. To find out more about the initiative, explore www.ccpi-umc.org or write to ccpi@gbophb.org. Donations can be made online or by calling 847-866-4230.
